Project Overview
Set within native bushland, this home was designed to sit lightly on the land while drawing inspiration from mid-century architecture and minimalist principles. The sloping site presented an opportunity to elevate the home, allowing it to follow the natural contours of the landscape while preserving existing native trees. Careful placement and layout optimised sun orientation and views from every room, resulting in a home that feels deeply connected to its environment and thoughtfully resolved.

Our Role
This was a Design & Build project, delivered by SWBC in collaboration with FLOW Architecture, led by Liana, with interior design by Leah from Page Eleven. Working closely with the clients alongside our design team, we guided the project from early design through to construction.
A key challenge was the site’s original Flame Zone (FZ) bushfire rating. Through careful building placement, working with the natural contours, preserving significant trees, and maintaining appropriate fire separation distances, we collaborated closely with bushfire management consultants to successfully reduce the rating to approximately BAL 29. Throughout the process, our role was to balance bushfire compliance, environmental sensitivity, and design intent, ensuring the home captures views, light, and connection to the landscape while remaining safe, compliant, and deeply considered.
