98 Geographe Bay

Project Overview

Situated directly opposite the shores of Geographe Bay, this coastal home was designed to celebrate its beachfront position through strong indoor–outdoor connection and generous, light-filled spaces. The brief was to create a relaxed yet refined beachside retreat that supports everyday living, entertaining, and hosting family and guests. Designed by Danielle Buchen of Studio Situs, the home balances openness and comfort, allowing it to respond naturally to its coastal setting while remaining warm and inviting year-round.

Our Role

SWBC was engaged early to work closely with the clients alongside the design team, in collaboration with Studio Situs, providing technical advice and buildability input as the design developed. A key challenge of the project was achieving the expansive 10-metre-wide opening to the front deck. Through close coordination with the engineer and designer, we helped develop an effective structural solution incorporating a structural concrete beam and a suspended slab cantilevering over the alfresco. Early involvement allowed these complex elements to be resolved with confidence, ensuring the architectural intent was achieved while delivering a robust, well-executed coastal home.
