#1 Bunker Bay

Project Overview

Set above the coastline at Bunker Bay, this home was conceived as a retreat from busy working life. Designed and built for long weekends, extended stays, and meaningful time with family and friends, the brief was to create a place where life could slow down. Drawing on the clients’ Scottish heritage, the home adopts a warm, homestead-inspired character that feels grounded and familiar, while sitting comfortably within the relaxed coastal setting of the South West.

Project Highlights

  • Homestead-inspired architecture with a refined coastal response
  • Double-glazed, BAL 40–rated steel-look doors by DGA
  • Solid stone flooring throughout, including a distinctive checkered entry
  • Custom American oak kitchen and bespoke joinery
  • Handcrafted stonework anchoring the home to its site
  • Fireplaces creating warmth and focus within shared living spaces
  • Seamless indoor–outdoor flow supporting relaxed, long-form living

Our Role

This was a Design & Build project, delivered by SWBC in collaboration with FLOW Architecture, with interior design by Leah from Page Eleven. Working closely with the clients alongside our design team, we carefully coordinated the project from early concept through to a build-ready outcome. This included managing the approval pathway through strata approval, Development Application, and building certification, ensuring the project progressed smoothly into construction. Throughout delivery, our focus was on protecting the original design intent while balancing buildability, material quality, and longevity, resulting in a home that feels considered, grounded, and built to endure.
